Jan 25 2008, 11:07 AM EST Steve's post hit hard today. I lost a 22 year old son to heroin 10 years ago. I attended a wake this week for the son of a close friend, again heroin OD was the cause of death. My friend's son struggled for 15 years; my son lasted only 2 yrs. Using heroin just one time will eventually kill you. It infuriates me that our military invasion of the Middle East has not accomplished the irradication of opium production. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

Feb 8 2008, 9:33 PM EST I am so sorry for your loss. The war on drugs clearly isn't working. As a social worker I see the horrors of drug use everyday. Putting people in prison isn't the answer. In the last 10-15 years substance abuse treatment has lost the funding to help people. It is very hard to find treatment centers. My fear is that because our troops are young and hurting alot of them will come back hooked on drugs because they are so cheap in the middle east. Do you find this valuable? |
